August 24, 1933 – September 20, 2018
Barbara Frederick Anderson, 85, of Smyrna, Ga passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born in Carnesville, GA, and grew up in the nearby community of Red Hill. She graduated from Franklin County High School and Reinhardt College. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Wesley Companions’ class in Atlanta for 60 years.
She enjoyed singing with “The Entertainers” and dancing with the “Fun Dancers” of Smyrna for over 30 years where they provided joy for many in the community. Barbara’s love of poetry was inherited from her father, and she could recite many long poems from memory. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed working in the garden.
But, her greatest joy was her family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Sam Anderson of 60 years; daughter, Karen Hill; son, Sam Anderson (wife Joanne); grandchildren, Natalie Hill, Alexandra Anderson, and Sydney Anderson; sisters, Betty Vaughn and Dot Ayers; sister in-law, Gail Frederick; and many much-loved nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. this Sunday, 9/23 at Grace United Methodist Church, 458 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30308, officiating will be Pastor Stacey Rushing. There will be a reception at the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to www.cancer.org/involved/donate.html, or your favorite charity.
