Barbara Davenport Smith, age 83, of Lilburn, Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026.
Barbara was born on March 20, 1943, in Buchanan, Georgia, and was a proud graduate of Haralson County High School. She spent her life rooted in faith, family, and quiet strength, touching the lives of all who knew her.
A devoted member of Harmony Grove United Methodist Church, Barbara was also actively involved in the Joy Club and the Thelma Wells sub group. Her faith was a central part of her life, and she lived it daily through her actions by offering unwavering kindness, warmth, and compassion to everyone she encountered.
Barbara found joy in simple pleasures. She loved Bible study, reading, playing solitaire, and watching her family participate in sporting events. Her greatest happiness, however, came from being surrounded by those she loved.
Those who knew Barbara remember her for her unwavering kindness, her exceptional ability to listen, and her constant warmth. She was always smiling, a friend to all, and a person of pure goodness. She was the steady rock her family leaned on through both good times and difficult moments, filling their lives with love and support. To her grandchildren, she was lovingly known as “Grams.” Her presence had a way of lighting up every room she entered, leaving lasting impressions on everyone she met.
Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Smith; her daughter, Pam Hubbard; her parents, J.K. and Gertrude Davenport; her brothers, John Davenport and Jim Davenport; her sister, Bertha Harris; and her sister, Nellie Lankford.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Smith; her son-in-law, John Hubbard; her grandchildren, Lance Hubbard (Dotti), Shawn Hubbard (Katie), Kristie Smith, and Kealy Nix (Caleb); her great-grandchildren, Hannah Hubbard, Skylar Smith, and Perry Nix; along with extended family and friends who will cherish her memory.
A funeral service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Harmony Grove United Methodist Church, 50 Harmony Grove Rd., Lilburn, GA 30047.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harmony Grove United Methodist Church in her memory.
