Barbara Lance Festner

Barbara June Lance, 62, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, passed away at her home on Sunday November 18, 2012 after a long and valiant battle with diabetes. Barbara was born on July 21, 1950 in Springfield, Illinois, to Hollis and Lillian Tucker Lance. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Barbara graduated from Central High School in Clifton and Kankakee Community College in Kankakee, Illinois. She was a registered nurse and shift coordinator at Shapiro Developmental Center and retired after 20 years. She enjoyed her grandchildren, her dog, folk music, flowers, and her home in Georgia. She is survived by her life partner, Michael Matters, of Stone Mountain; daughter, Suzanne Gasior Ron, of Chicago; granddaughter, Summer Lynn Smith; grandsons, Dylan James and Devon Michael Gasior of Chicago; her mother, Lillian Lance of Clifton, Illinois; brother Hollis Lance Rita of Mountain, Wisconsin, sisters Sharon Egan, Shirley Pelletier Vince, Eva Sitzes of Phoenix, Arizona; Joan Gross of Clifton, Illinois and many nephews and nieces. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Hollis Lance, brother, Louis Lance, and infant daughter, Christien Amy Lance. She will be sorely missed.
