September 10, 1934 — May 11, 2026

Bertha, “Bert” Blevins Bentley, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, leader, and friend. Bert lived a life marked by service, compassion, and unwavering dedication to those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy Carl Bentley, DMD; her grandson, Brandon Nelson Harper; her father, Noel Rosco Blevins Sr.; her mother, Jessie Pauline Blevins; her sisters, Allie Cleo Blevins and Winnie Blevins Pell; and her brothers, Bobby Cleon Blevins and Noel Rosco Blevins Jr.

Bert is survived by her four children: Deborah Bentley Smith (Ray) of Flowery Branch, Georgia; Vincent Carl Bentley of Augusta, Georgia; Christina Bentley Henry of Stockbridge, Georgia; and Teresa Bentley Friend (Hank) of Loganville, Georgia. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Jo Whittiker of Ider, Alabama, and her brother, Ernest Gardner Blevins (Connie) of Trenton, Georgia.

Bert was a proud graduate of Ider Highschool where she was named the Salutatorian. She went on to graduate from Birmingham Business College in 1953 and began her professional career with New York Life Insurance Company. On October 15, 1955, she married the love of her life, Billy Carl Bentley, beginning a partnership that would span decades and build a beautiful family legacy.

Throughout her life, Bert dedicated countless hours to volunteer service and leadership. She gave generously of her time and talents to many organizations, including the Atlanta Boy Choir, the Auxiliary of the Northern District Dental Society, and the Auxiliary of the Georgia Dental Association, where she served as President. She also served as First Lady of the Hinman Dental Society, District III Trustee for the Auxiliary of the American Dental Association, and President of the Alliance of the American Dental Association. In addition to her civic and professional involvement, she was active in political campaigns, including Bud Stumbaugh’s 1989 campaign for Georgia Lieutenant Governor and David Allen’s 1992 campaign for State Senate.

Above all else, Bert was a loving mother and “Memommie” to her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, from hosting tea parties to creating lifelong memories through her travels around the world. Her warmth, strength, and steadfast love made her the glue that held her family together.

Family meant everything to Bert, and nothing brought her greater joy than being surrounded by those she loved. Her kindness, grace, and generous spirit touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.
