Betty Lou Criswell, age 81, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 20, 2024.
Betty Lou “Lou” was born to John and Betty McDaniel in Chattanooga, TN on October 8, 1943.
She grew up in Birmingham, Alabama where she graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1962, and continued her Education at the University of Alabama.
She moved to Atlanta where she worked in many administrative fields through the course of her life and retired in 2021. She was a member of Stone Mountain Community Church.
Lou would always be found spending time with her family. She had a love for sewing and used her talents for all, creating pieces that will remain with family and friends for years to come. She had a true talent for baking and her Poundcake and Birthday Cakes were always in high demand. She loved Alabama football and would always be in “her spot” with the “correct shirt” on to watch every game. She was present at every one of her Grandchildren’s events and took pride in all of their activities. Lou was always described as funny, caring beyond measure, and was everyone’s Grandmother. She was immensely loved by all and fully embraced being an amazing Mother, Mother in Law, Sister, Aunt and Grandmother.
Betty Lou is preceded in death by Her father, John W. McDaniel, her Mother, Betty R. McDaniel, and her Brother, Samuel E. McDaniel.
She is Survived by
Her Brother, Rogers (Sue) McDaniel of Pell City, Al Her Daughter Susan (Jay) DuBose of Dacula, GA Her Daughter Elizabeth (Chris) Brown of Nolensville, TN Her Son John (Jess) Criswell of Mooresville, NC And her Grandchildren Abby (Daniel) Proctor, Jake DuBose, William Brown, Walter Brown, Kate Brown, Shaun Criswell and Winter Criswell.
The family will be hosting a reception to celebrate her life at Jay and Susan’s home on Sunday, February 16th at 2:00 in the afternoon.
