Bikram Laroia Tirath

September 28, 1931 — September 21, 2025

Bikram Laroia Tirath, born in Jalandhar, India, on September 28, 1931, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, surrounded by family.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Santosh Tirath; his two sons, Rakesh Tirath (wife Ruby, granddaughter Harsha) and Sanjeev Tirath (wife Namita, grandchildren Ankita, Somya, Abhinav, Tarun, Saneel, and great-grandchildren Ishaan, Samir, and Anya), and sister Sneh Handa. A father to two sons but truly a father figure to many, Bikram was the heart of his family.

Bikram built a distinguished career as Assistant Commissioner in the Central Bureau of Narcotics, where he was a respected member of the taskforce regulating opium cultivation and combating smuggling. His work took him across India, where his sharp observation, attention to detail, and unwavering integrity earned him recognition as one of the most honest officers of his time.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bikram will be remembered for his discipline, punctuality, and leadership, balanced with his sweet nature, love of sweets, and passion for photography—especially capturing the beauty of nature. He embodied empathy, simplicity, and care in all that he did, living his life by his own motto: “One thing at a time and that done well is a very good rule that I can tell.”

Mentally and physically sharp to the end, Bikram leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and devotion.
