Brian Thomas Powell

Brian Thomas Powell was born June 5, 1970 in Beaufort, South Carolina. The son of Ralph A. Powell and Beverly R. Powell.

He was very involved in scouting starting as a Cub Scout in 1978. He went on to earn the Arrow of Light, twelve skill badges, and thirty-three merit badges as well as achieving the highest rank of Eagle Scout in 1985.

He graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1988. He went on to attend East Carolina University before getting a degree at Southern New Hampshire.

Brian is remembered with joy and gentleness. He was a loving husband, father, son, and brother. He enjoyed fishing and camping. He was an avid fan of the UNC Tarheels. He was known to always have a grin on his face and bring laughter wherever he went.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine Powell; three children, Kelsey Frost, Arden Powell, and Jackson Powell; two granddaughters, Riley and Kinsley Frost. Along with his immediate family, he is survived by his parents, Ralph A. and Beverly R. Powell; his two sisters, Julie Mikrut and Laurie Tipton (Tippy), and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of life in his honor Thursday, March 30th. The family will be receiving friends from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at Wages and Sons 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy.

Since he was a scout from cub to eagle as well serving in leader positions up until his passing, in lieu of flower the family is requesting donations be made in his memory to B.S.A. NE Georgia Council, 204 Swanson Dr, Lawrenceville, GA 30043.
