Carol Gaddie

February 26, 1955 — January 3, 2025

Carol Gaddie, 69 of Decatur, Georgia passed away on Friday January 3rd. Carol was the youngest of two girls, born in Saint Joseph Missouri on February 26, 1955. She’s preceded in death by her parents Martin Watkins and Verelle (Vaughn) Goin and by her husband of 44 years, Thomas Gaddie (married January 14, 1972).

In her early years, with young children, she worked as a coach teaching artistic roller skating. As her children grew, she changed careers with the complexity of life. Her life moved her across the country multiple times. Carol spent every moment greeting new friends wherever she went. She was bubbly and the life of any party. Her many hobbies included telling strangers embarrassing stories or fun facts about her children and grandchildren. She was a proud loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and a forever-friend.

Survivors include her children Chantel Carrillo (Ruben, (g.ch) Joana and Evelyn) of Winder, GA, Joshua Gaddie (Corina, (g.ch) Winsor, Rhiannon, and Josilyn and (gg.ch.) Vallon, Seger, Benson, and Harlin) of Agency, MO, Jacob Gaddie (Donaciano Moreno) of Chicago, IL, and Shelby Gaddie (Miguel) (g.ch) Ciyana and Eleanor) of Athens, GA, her sister, Peggy Tobey of Saint Joseph, MO, step-sister Robyn (Goin) Jones of Saint Joseph, MO and half-sister Tina (Watkins) Self of Hutchinson, KS.

Carol loved the outdoors, road trips, and visiting her children whenever the opportunity found. She spent the last 7 years with her companion Scot Hogewood, traveling and enjoying the life of retirement. Whether it was at home in the pool, or on the many beach vacations she took, she was always the first one at the “party” and the last one to leave.

The family agrees that no less than two parties will be a fitting farewell for Carol. A Celebration of Life in both Georgia and Missouri to be held at a later date.
