Caroline Chesnut Macneill

Caroline Chesnut MacNeill died October 11, 2011, at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Charles A.MacNeill. Caroline was born in McDonough, Georgia, the oldest of three children, to Janie Hooten Chesnut and George Ray Chesnut. She lived most ofher life in Georgia except for a brief period in New York, acompanying her husband who served as a medical officer during World War Two.Caroline worked at Sears Roebuck before having two children, then took over the management of her husbandʼs optical practice in Decatur. She was an avid homemaker and was wallpapering her dining room at the spry age of 80. She was a devoted member of Clairmont PresbyterianChurch in Decatur, serving multiple roles.Caroline MacNeill is survived by two sons, Charles A. MacNeill, Jr., and Donald C. MacNeill, her daughter-in-law Gale Manning MacNeill, and twograndsons, Charles A MacNeill III Chas and Ace E. MacNeill.A family graveside service is planned. Contributions in honor of Caroline MacNeill may be made to Clairmont Presbyterian Church or the American Arthritis Society.
