Charles Frederick (Fred) Lane

Charles Frederick (Fred) Lane was born on October 24, 1943 in Schenectady, NY.

Fred attended Niskayuna High School (NY) and then Colgate University where he graduated in 1965.

After graduation, Fred started work at NJ Bell and in 1966 married Patricia (Pat) Jane Flynn; a girl from high school whom he had known for years.

Kathleen (Katie) and Jennifer (Jenny) followed in 1968 and 1971, respectively, and Fred began his life as a family man, loyal AT&T (then Lucent) employee and executive as well as an avid golfer. Roles he enjoyed and continued for most of his adult life.

Loved by so many family and friends, his sense of humor was a hallmark. Fred’s blunt observations and classic euphemisms will serve as legend for years to come!

In addition to his daughters and wife Fred is survived by his sons in law, Kevin Brenan and Kevin Buckley and his 4 grandchildren, Margaret Brenan, Casey Brenan, Ryan Buckley and Sean Buckley.

Fred died as he lived, surrounded by the love and support of his family after a life very well lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any remembrances of Fred serve as a donation to the charity of their own choosing.

A memorial mass celebrating Fred’s life will be held at St. Benedict Catholic Church (Duluth, GA) on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 10:30AM.
