Charles Alan Waldrop

It is in loving memory of a resilient soul, we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Charles Alan Waldrop-; better known as "Charlie" to all that knew and loved him. Born and raised in Atlanta, GA ,he moved to Lilburn where he spent many of his adult years. It wasn't uncommon for him to stay an extended period with his immediate family to help us with home projects and miscellaneous jobs. He was a simple man, never drawing a lot of attention to himself. During his life, heartache and tragedy were no strangers. Some of these life challenges left him with a battered exterior, but underneath all that roughness lay a tender heart.

Because of his own personal suffering and struggles, he had a compassionate, open heart to listen to the problems and pain of others. Like a script from a suspenseful novel, he always had a story to share and there was never a shortage of them! With a good working knowledge of mechanics and construction technology, he was always eager to help us and others fix or troubleshoot a problem. He wasn't afraid of hard physical labor, but was challenged by his medical fragility. Though not big in stature, he was strong in overcoming adversity through his stubborn will, prayer, and his Christian faith. His faith was like his life, raw, open, full of struggles and questions, but God's grace was never untethered from his soul. God's word was an intrigue part of his life and he openly shared this knowledge and his faith with others.

Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved parents, James Ira Waldrop and Billie Jo Waldrop.

He is survived by his brothers, Jim Waldrop (Cindy) and Ken Waldrop (Michelle); and his sisters, Kathy Dugas, Sherri Johnson, Teresa M. Waldrop, and Roxanne Wilson (Shane).

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in Charlie’s memory.
