Charon Yvette Mathews

Charon Yvette Mathews, 63, born in Landstuhl, Germany on 2/8/1963 lived in Decatur, Georgia passed from complications with cancer on 9/23/2026. Charon was a loving wife, mother, nana, and friend. Charon and her husband “Matt” had such a strong positive impact on their grandchildren. Their teenage grands still enjoyed spending the nights with them as often as their schedules allowed. She loved vacationing in the mountains with Matt, along with friends Chris and Vicky Blair.

Preceded by parents Kenneth Sr. and Marion Telligman, siblings Ronald Telligman and Robert Telligman.

Survived by husband Troy “Matt” Mathews Jr, son Troy “Trey” Mathews III, son James “Jimmy” Mathews and spouse Candice, daughter Mari “Becci” Hammond and spouse Paul, grandchildren Zane, Kayley, Avery, Haden, Sabrina and Wyatt, siblings Kenneth Joe Telligman III and Karen Davidson.

Charon worked for Creative Community Services for more than 25 years as an office manager and HR liaison.
