Clarence "Ronnie" Pettis

Clarence “Ronnie” Pettis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at the age of 81, as a resident of Georgia. Born on March 26, 1943, in Alabama, Ronnie lived a life full of kindness, love, and generosity that touched everyone who knew him.

Ronnie graduated from W.S. Neal High School in the Class of 1961 and later retired from a dedicated career with General Motors. Known for his kind and gentle nature, Ronnie had a big heart that endeared him to all who crossed his path. His warm smile and easygoing personality brought joy to his family and friends, who cherished every moment spent with him.

Ronnie never met a stranger. No matter where he went, he was sure to strike up a conversation and leave a lasting impression. He loved spending time outdoors, particularly planting a garden every year—a tradition that brought him peace and joy.

His wife, Margie, always felt secure knowing he was by her side, a testament to the love and devotion they shared. Ronnie’s family remembers him as the cornerstone of their lives, always there to bring a smile, share a story, or lend a helping hand.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Arnold, his son Clarence Ronnie Pettis, Jr., and his daughter Vicky Lea Nelson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margie E. Pettis; his stepdaughters, Karen Barlev and Renee Cooke (Scott); his grandson Scotty Nelson (Lacee) and Scotty’s children Harper, Jack, Olivia, Charli, and Blake; his granddaughter Katy Bonds (Darrelle) and Katy’s child Zeke; his stepgrandson David Lev and his children Noah and Liam; his stepgranddaughter Rachel Barlev; his stepgrandson Brody Lowe; and his stepbrothers, Danny Crispen (Judy) and Freddy Crispen (Bonnie Stevenson).

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 10:00–11:00 AM, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel. Interment will take place immediately after the funeral at Gwinnett Memorial Park, 925 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30046.

Ronnie’s legacy of kindness, love, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His family and friends will forever cherish the countless memories of his smile, his laughter, and his unwavering love.
