Claude Bennett age 83 of Oxford, GA formerly of Stone Mountain passed away June 8, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents Emmett & Ida Bennett; wife, Annette Young Bennett; brothers, Gene Bennett and Carl Bennett, Jr. Survivors include his children, Russell Bennett and his wife Angela, Monticello, GA; Ginger Ivey and her husband Tim, Loganville; Joy Wilson and her husband Stanley, Loganville; brother, Willis Bennett and his wife Martha, Loganville; grandchildren, Candice and Scott Nanney, Brandon and Betony Bennett, Justin and Traci Ivey, Ashley and Nicholas Wegmann, Brad Wilson and Heather Wilson; great grandchildren, Katie Nanney, Bennett Nanney, Brynley Bennett, Bristol Bennett, Brenna Bennett, Hunter Ivey and Katelyn Ivey. Claude served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Atlantic Steel Co. after 37 years of service. Through his love of people and ministry, he worked with Wages & Sons Funeral Homes as a Funeral Assistant and officiated funeral services for many members of our community through the years. A funeral service will be held Monday June 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Wages & Sons Stone Mountain Chapel. Rev. Jerry Grey and Dr. Bob Whitmire will officiate. Burial Bethel Community Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or those desiring may make donations in Claude’s memory to Monticello Baptist Church Music Dept. 334 W. Greene St. Monticello, GA 31064 or Woodlake Baptist Church Building Fund 3940 GA 138 Covington, GA 30014 or Bethel Community Cemetery Association C/O Connie McWilliams 207 Oxford Dr. Oxford, GA 30054. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at Wages & Sons Stone Mountain Chapel 1040 Main St. Stone Mountain, GA 30083
