Col. Peter J. Katsegianes Usarmy Retired

Stone Mountain, Ga.- Retired Army Colonel Peter James Katsegianes, 79, of Stone Mountain, Ga., passed away peacefully with family by his side at the St. Mary's Hospice House on Saturday October, 5th 2013. Visitation will be Wednesday October 9th 2013 at Wages & Sons Stone Mountain Chapel, Stone Mountain, Ga., between 6-8pm. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday October 10th, 2013 at 11am in the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation on Clairmont Road, Atlanta, Ga. Burial will be in the Historic Stone Mountain Cemetery, Stone Mountain, Ga. Peter was born June 21, 1934, in New York City, New York. He was a graduate of Colgate University Class '58 with a degree in Political Science. He later earned a Law Degree from the Albany Law School in upstate New York. He also attained a Master's degree in Public Administration '83 from Webster University. Peter retired from the U.S. Army in 1992, as a full Colonel in the Judge Advocate General's Corps with 30 year's service, having served several tours of duty throughout the United States, Europe and Vietnam. He was a graduated of the Command General's Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, KS.; the Judge Advocate's Basic and Advanced Officer's Courses and the Infantry Offices Basic Course at Ft. Benning, Ga. He was awarded numerous awards and decoration, the most notable being 2 Legion of Merit and 5 Meritorious Service Medal's. Upon retirement, Peter worked with Veterans seeking employment, before leaving and working for the Ga. Department of Labor. He worked for several more years before retiring again. To his family, he left behind a legacy built on Integrity, Loyalty and Love. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Helen Kane, his brother Kerry Kane, and his loving wife, Georgiana Katsegianes whom he was married to for 52 years. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Joan Katsegianes; daughter, Tammy Myers; brother and sister-in-law, Stratton and Janice Kane; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Robert Didato; uncle and aunt, Kimon and Carol Gregory; grandchildren, Ashlyn, Jacob and Joshua Myers, Nicholas Katsegianes; great-grandson, Caden Vost; many cousins, nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations can be given to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, in Atlanta, Ga.
