Dahyabhai J. Patel, fondly known as “David” passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30th, in Lawrenceville, Georgia, with his wife Jayaben beside him. He was 84 years old.
Dahyabhai was born on July 24, 1941, in Chokhad, Gujarat, India, to Jerambhai and Jamnaben Patel. He was the eldest of three siblings and from an early age carried a deep sense of responsibility, humility, and devotion to family.
In 1961, Dahyabhai moved to England at the age of 20. Despite weathering harsh winters, he built a long and dedicated career working for Rolls-Royce in England. In 1967, he married his partner in crime, Jayaben Patel. Together they built a strong and loving family and were blessed with three daughters: Varsha, Nayna, and Sandhaya.
In 1987, with the dream of creating a better life for his family, Dahyabhai immigrated to the United States. He entered the motel business and worked tirelessly across several states, including Tennessee, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Dallas. His final move brought him to Atlanta, Georgia, where he spent his later years surrounded by his daughters and cherished grandchildren.
Dahyabhai was a grounded, hardworking, and deeply respected man within his community. He was not a man of many words, but his actions spoke volumes. He was always present for his family and friends offering quiet guidance, unwavering support, and gentle encouragement whenever it was needed.
He lived a simple and peaceful life centered around his family. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his grandchildren, whether that meant babysitting, school runs, attending after-school activities, or simply being there. He loved returning to India whenever possible and took great pride in sharing stories of his life in India and England with his children and grandchildren.
Dahyabhai leaves behind a beautiful and lasting legacy through his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jayaben Patel; his daughters, Varsha, Nayna, and Sandhaya; his sons-in-law, Dixit, Dipak, and Youshi; his grandchildren, Tanya, Maya, Rehan, Rhyse, Rickesh, Himani, Syana, Saniya, Shayna, and Serean; and his great-grandchildren, Avaya, Evaun, Ivaria, Oviaan, and Zara.
Each of them carries a piece of his spirit his kindness, and strength
Words can never fully express how deeply Dahyabhai was loved, admired, and respected by his family and friends. Though life feels heavier without him, his love and legacy will continue to guide and comfort those he leaves behind.
