Daisy Louise Smith, age 92, passed away with her family by her side in Dacula, GA, on September 15, 2023. She was born on November 18, 1930, in Day, Florida to her loving parents Henry Charles Bass and Annie May Bass.
Daisy is survived by three children: Thelma (David) Hamilton; Annie (Bill) Heffelfinger; Lorna (Chris) Hicks; Eleven grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Dudley Sheffield and her second husband Irving B. Smith; and six siblings: Reed “Willard” Bass, Charles Bass, Willie Bass, Bobbie “Gene” Bass, Edward Bass and Cora Mae Koon.
Daisy loved going to church, fishing, gardening, sewing, and crafting. Despite the size of her extremely large family, Daisy always made time for them and provided love and support for all her loved ones. She worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for her children. Daisy loved spending time with her grandchildren and proudly boasted about them given the chance.
Daisy retired after spending over 25 years of her career at Publix. After her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her late husband and working the Renaissance Festival. She was also a member of the Disabled Veterans, the American Legion, and the VFW.
Please join the family in celebrating Daisy’s life at North Metro Baptist Church (1026 Old Peachtree Rd NE, Lawrenceville, GA 30043) on Saturday, September 30th at 10:00am. Burial services will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery (10000 Bay Pines Boulevard North, St. Petersburg, FL 33708) on Friday, October 20th at 9:00am.
Please note that any flower arrangements being sent to the family in Daisy’s honor should be delivered to North Metro Baptist Church on September 30th. Bay Pines National Cemetery has a limit of one floral arrangement for cremation burials and the immediate family will respectfully handle those flowers.
