Ben Brooks, also known as David Benjamin Brooks, passed away on February 14, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on October 31, 1959, in Clarksdale, MS, Ben’s life was a tapestry woven with warmth, kindness, and boundless joy.
A faithful member of Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, Ben’s unwavering faith served as a guiding light throughout his life’s journey. He found solace and strength in his spiritual beliefs, and his presence in the church community was a source of comfort and inspiration to many.
Ben lived life to the fullest, finding joy in the simple pleasures and creating lasting memories with family and friends. He had a passion for golf, Jeeps, and cheering on his beloved Ole Miss Rebels.
Known for his competitive spirit and love for the game, Ben’s enthusiasm on the golf course was infectious, and he cherished the camaraderie shared with friends during annual golf trips. He was an avid Ole Miss fan, he enjoyed going to football games and spending time in The Grove. He loved spending weekends at the cabin with family and friends, and within the past year traveled to Hawaii, Montana, and Navarre Beach.
A dedicated professional, Ben’s commitment to excellence and his ability to connect with others left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of working alongside him. His hard work and dedication were exemplified by winning the first S.P.O.T.Y (Sales Person of the Year) award for his company. After a successful career, Ben had recently retired and was ready for his next chapter in life.
Above all, Ben’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Danise Brooks, and a loving father to his daughter, Erin Mettelman (David), of Austin, TX, and son, Austin Brooks (Claire) of Atlanta, GA. Ben’s love knew no bounds, and he made his family feel protected, loved, happy, safe, and secure every single day.
Ben’s memory will forever be cherished by his sister, B.J. Gunnell, of Arkansas, his brother, Chris Brooks, of Madison, MS, and his adoring grandchildren, Hallie Rae and Brooks.
A celebration of Ben’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, located at 1001 Duluth Highway, Lawrenceville, GA 30043, with a reception immediately following. A visitation will be held the evening before, on Tuesday, February 20th, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Wages and Sons Funeral Home, 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30046.
Following the service, the burial will take place at 4:00 PM on February 21st, 2024, at New Hope Baptist Church, 3732 Loving Road, Morgonton, GA, 30560.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ben’s name to Christ the Lord Lutheran Church , or to Team Rubicon .
