Denise Gertrude Forte

Denise Gertrude Forte died unexpectedly on February 28th in Lawrenceville, Georgia at the age of 53. Denise is mourned by her daughter Ashleigh Olivia Forte; mother Roseabelle McConduit Forte, two sisters Claudian Forte and Jacqueline Forte-Mackay, as well as family and friends. Denise Gertrude Forte was born on January, 13th 1962 at Flint Goodrich Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana to parents Jack Arthur Forte and Rosabelle McConduit Forte . Denise always had a great passion for academics and excelled at every stage of her academic career. She instilled that same passion in her daughter, who graduated from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia in May 2014 . Currently, Ashleigh is an officer in the United States Navy. Denise graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana, Magna Cum Laude, in 1982 where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Biology- Chemistry . During her time at Xavier, she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc and became a sister of the Epsilon Tau Chapter in 1981. She continued her education at Tulane Medical School, but did not complete her degree in order to become a loving mother. After moving to Atlanta, Georgia with her daughter she became a middle school substitute teacher in Dekalb County for Atlanta’s public schools. A traffic accident left her unable to continue her work in the education system. She was an astonishingly intelligent person who was passionate about the science and medical field. Always wanting to enrich her mind, Denise loved educating herself through books, travel and adventure. She also had a great love for her favorite musician, Prince. Her love of Prince will live on through all those she held dear. We cannot forget about her third greatest love, Dogs. Denise cared for many dogs throughout her life, each one of them providing love, joy and happiness within her home. Her life was filled with many blessings. She will be sorely missed.
