Donna Cannon Kruger, 64, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on May 12, 2026. She died peacefully in her sleep while on a business trip to Tokyo. Born on January 1, 1962, in Atlanta, Donna was a lifelong Georgia girl who filled every room she entered with warmth, sharp wit, and an unmistakable spark that drew people to her.
Donna grew up in Atlanta and graduated from Lakeside High School in 1980. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgia State University in 1986, laying the foundation for what would become a remarkable career in finance. She started her career as a commercial real estate appraiser. She began making her mark as an Asset Manager at JPI from 1996 to 2003, where her keen financial mind and tireless work ethic earned her wide respect. In 2003, she became Eastern Chief Financial Officer at Trammell Crow Residential, a position she held with distinction for over two decades until the time of her passing. Her colleagues knew her as someone who was not only brilliant with numbers but genuinely invested in the people around her.
Beyond the boardroom, Donna had a full and joyful life. She loved nothing more than spending time at the lake, where she could slow down and soak in the beauty of the water. She had a passion for gardening, coaxing beauty out of the earth with the same determination and care she brought to everything. And anyone who knew Donna knew she loved a good shopping trip, approaching it with the same enthusiasm and strategic thinking she brought to her professional life. Above all, she was funny, the kind of person who could make you laugh until your sides hurt, and compassionate in ways both large and small.
Donna is survived by her devoted husband, Jim Kruger; her loving mother, Lynnette Cannon; her sisters, Debbie Dozier (Bankston) of Forsyth, GA and Denise Hooten (Mark) of Rock Hill, SC; nephews Taylor Hooten (Brittany), Parker Hooten, and Davis Hooten, her sister-in-law Cheryl Van Hooven of New York and niece Hester, sister-in-law Cerese Van Hooven (Longwood, FL) with nephews Chris and Cole (Alexis), brother-in-law John (Suwannee, GA) with nephews Johnny and Jerry, sister-in-law Kathleen Van Hooven (Atlanta), sister-in-law Jackie (Atlanta) with niece Courtenay (Brian) and a wide circle of friends and colleagues who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Cannon, her mother-in-law Beatrice Kruger (Atlanta), father-in-law Gerald Kruger (Atlanta), brother-in-law Curt (Atlanta), brother-in-law Craig (Longwood, FL) and sister-in-law Jackie (Suwanee, GA).
Donna's kindness, laughter, and generous spirit touched countless lives. May she rest in the peace and grace she so freely gave to others during her time here.
A celebration of Donna's life will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior. The family asks that those who loved Donna hold her memory close and celebrate the remarkable life she lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation in memory of Donna.
