Douglas Wayne Baker July 14, 1954, to October 15, 2024

Doug Baker, 70, died October 15, 2024, at his home in Lawrenceville, GA, surrounded by family. Doug was born on July 14, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan to Cecil and Thelma (Quick) Baker.

After graduating from West Bloomfield High School in Michigan, Doug worked work in restaurants and catering in Oregon, California, and Texas, before settling in Georgia. His carved fruit and vegetable trays and delicious homemade meals were always a hit with his family and friends. Later in life, he changed careers and became a parts manager in the automotive collision repair industry.

Doug and Andrea found a passion for life with each other and got married in 1996. Throughout their 28 years of marriage, they traveled throughout the country, enjoyed numerous furry pets, and made some amazing memories with family and friends. Always with a fun little smile, Doug (aka, Dr. Volvo) loved old cars and owned several that were used in classic movies, modern hit series, and numerous TV commercials. His radio station was always set to classic rock and roll, and he enjoyed Coca-Cola in glass bottles.

Doug was predeceased by both of his parents and his sister, Nancy. In addition to his wife, Andrea, he is survived by his son James (Amy) of Detroit, MI, and his three grandchildren, Trey, Jackson, and Hanna, his brother Michael of Cumming, GA, and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Car Show will be held on November 16, 2024, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the NETT Church (Berkmar campus), 675 Pleasant Hill Rd, Lilburn, GA 30047. Proceeds from the car show will benefit outreach programs and food banks. Donations can be made at the car show or your local food bank in his memory.
