Col. (Ret.) Doyle Allen “Buddy” Buck
September 13, 1942 – July 4, 2026
Doyle Allen Buck of Lawrenceville, GA, passed away on July 4, 2026 at the age of 83. Known to his family and friends as Buddy, he was born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and as a retired Army Signal Corps Colonel of 26 years, made his home all over the world.
Buddy graduated from Arkadelphia High School in 1960 and held a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Henderson State College and a master’s degree in public administration from Central Michigan University.
Buddy met his lifetime sweetheart Neita (Nutt) Buck in the registration line at Henderson State College where he boldly asked her to break her date to the football game and go with him instead. She promptly did and they went on to have a life filled with adventures, family and friends across the United States, Europe and Japan. They retired in Augusta, GA in 1994 where he later joined Ameriprise as a financial advisor and was dedicated to helping others achieve their goals.
Buddy was the loving father of three children – Christopher Buck, Jami Buck and Jarrad “Lane” Buck. Additionally, he was the proud grandfather to Kyle Buck, Kayla (Buck) Garrett, Keagan Buck, Nathan Buck, Maisy Buck, Davin Buck, Lila Vance, Abigail Buckand his first great-grandchild Jude Garrett.
Buddy was the embodiment of acts of service to his country, family and friends. His dry wit and devotion to those he loved will be deeply missed. A staunch fan of all SEC sports, he was most loyal to his Arkansas Razorbacks. An accomplished golfer, he played most of his life and enjoyed participating in military retiree tournaments. A true Southern gentleman, one of his hopes was that he would not pass during college football or basketball season or the Master’s Golf Tournament because he didn’t want anyone to miss cheering on their favorites.
Buddy was preceded in death by the love of his life Neita Buck, his parents Carl and Sibilla Buck, his sister Norma Jean Buck, and his daughter-in-law Mary Buck.
Buddy is survived by his children, grandchildren, grandson-in law Josh Garrett, granddaughter-in-law Cara Stewart and his brother Alton Buck of Benton, AR along with extended family and dear friends from the military, Warren Baptist Church of Augusta, GA and the Mansions at Gwinnett Place Independent Living.
Per his request, the family has arranged a “Going Home Celebration to be with my Sweet Neita” service at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel, located at 1031 Lawrenceville Highway in Lawrenceville, GA on Friday, July 24 with Dr. David H. McKinley officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
