Julia Elaine Calloway Millsaps, 92, passed away on November 5, 2014 at the Fountainview Center for Alzheimer’s Disease in Atlanta, Georgia. A memorial service was held at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Atlanta, Georgia on November 8 and a graveside service for family and friends will be held at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, Louisiana on Friday, November 28, 2014, at 11:00 am.
A long-time resident of Monroe, Louisiana, Elaine moved to Atlanta to be near her children and grandchildren in 2007. She graduated from Louisiana State University and was a teacher at Ouachita Parish High School. Elaine loved to play bridge and Scrabble. She was an artist, a scholar of the Bible, and an avid walker to the end of her life. Elaine was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Monroe, Louisiana and then the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Atlanta. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey and Madie Lee Calloway; husband, Fred F. Millsaps, Jr; sister, Margaret Mathus; and brother. T.A. Calloway. She is survived by daughter, Julia Elaine Millsaps; daughter, Melanie Millsaps Johnson and husband, Mark; and grandsons, Matthew and Andrew Johnson.
