Eleanor Adele Kraus, nee Bier, formerly of Stone Mountain, passed into Eternal Life on February 25, 2018. She was 93. An avid sports fan, Eleanor’s most loved pastime was to cheer on her teams on TV, most notably the Chicago Whitesox and Blackhawks and Green Bay Packers. Born in Chicago, Illinois on October 22, 1924, to Walter and Olga (Wiedenhoeft) Bier, Eleanor adopted the Atlanta sports teams when she moved to Stone Mountain from Ravenna, Ohio in 1971. Eleanor’s additional favorite things were to sing in the church choir at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church and spend time with her sons and their families. Eleanor was a beloved wife and wonderful mother/grandmother, who always put everyone first, above herself. She is survived by her husband, Richard; five sons: Howard (Janice) of Albright, WV; George (Valerie) of Kenna, WV; Les (Jan) of Punta Gorda, FL; Jim (Karen) of Snellville; GA and Bruce (Kelly) of Snellville; GA 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Mahler of Chicago; and 9 nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, March 2 at 1pm at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, 5135 Memorial Drive, Stone Mountain, GA 30083; viewing will be from 11am to 1pm at Rock of Ages and burial following the service, at Snellville Historical Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Rock of Ages. Wages & Sons Stone Mountain is handling the arrangements.
