Eleanor Frances Pemberton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025. She was born in September 1936 in Trenton, New Jersey. She grew up in Trenton and went to William and Mary after high school. She graduated with an English degree. Soon after graduation, she married an Army Officer, Tom Pemberton. Eleanor and Tom were married for over 61 years. Eleanor was a librarian with the Atlanta Fulton Public Library for many years.
Eleanor was an active church member. She loved to travel to many different places around the world. She also loved to read, work on puzzles, play Wii Bowling, and meet with her friends for dinner. She was also very active in several different clubs and groups in her community. She loved going on vacation, spending time with her family, and seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eleanor is survived by her son, Bob Pemberton, and daughter-in-law, Becky Pemberton. She was a proud grandmother to Adam and his wife, Melodee, and to Jenna, and a great-grandmother to Micah and Corrie, and to nieces Penny Ducote and Libby Marchese, and to nephew Mickey Wise.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruth House; her brother, Edward “Ed” House; and her loving husband, Thomas “Tom” Pemberton.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Park Spring, 500 Springhouse Circle, Stone Mountain, GA 30087.
