Elinor C. Eaves

Elinor Calvert Eaves, 87, was born to Anne and Bob Calvert, Sr., in Atlanta, Georgia. She was twice married, to first husband Charles P. Walton who died in 1946 while on duty for the U.S. Marines during World War II. Mrs. Eaves second marriage was to Sterling "Red" Eaves, Georgia Tech Alumni and SEC official, US Army Air Force Veteran during World War II and realtor who died in 1964. While growing-up in the Morningside area of Atlanta, she attended Atlanta schools including Girls High. She attended Haygood Methodist Church and later became a member of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. She volunteered as a Gray Lady and a Vacation Bible School teacher for several years. She lead both Cub Scouts and Brownie Troops when her children were young. She was a lover of music, and played piano in her youth. Mrs. Eaves was also an ardent animal lover, always having at least one cat living with her throughout her life. She was a supporter the Humane Society of Atlanta and Atlanta Pet Rescue. She was an unwavering supporter of Georgia Tech football, the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons. Mrs. Eaves is survived by her children and their spouses: Charles "Chuck" Eaves, son and his wife Rosalind; Elinor Thomason, daughter; Robbin Eaves, daughter and her husband Murray Halverson; Sterling Eaves, daughter and her husband Bill Seitz. Mrs. Eaves was also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother Robert "Bob" Calvert, Jr. and his wife Sandy. On Thursday March 6,2014, a private internment will occur at Arlington Cemetery, Sandy Springs, Georgia followed by the family receiving guests in the Hospitality Suite at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church,3l80 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, 30305 from 2:00-4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Atlanta Humane Society, atlantahumane.org or Atlanta Pet Rescue, atlantapetrescue.org.
