Elisabeth Anne Hartman Mrs.

December 7, 1967 — August 30, 2015

Elisabeth A. Hartman Resident of Lawrenceville, GA Lisa Hartman was born in 1967 to Daniel and Jacqueline Foley in Grand Island, NE. She was the youngest of five children. She lived with her family in Iowa and California, and attended Holy Name of Mary Grade School and Mary Star of the Sea High School in the Los Angeles area. She went to college at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, earning Bachelor’s (’91) and Master’s degrees in Experimental Physiopsychology. Her friends found her to have “a kind heart and a brilliant mind.” In 1998 Lisa married Alan F. Hartman, who works in software engineering, and joined him in Lawrenceville, GA, near Atlanta. She worked several years as a pharmacy technician, trying to help people understand their medications and improve their quality of life. In the past decade her love of animals grew into a passion for animal rescue and dog/cat adoptions, helping lost or unloved animals find new, loving homes. She has facilitated over 40 rescues and adoptions for beautiful pets who would otherwise have had no chance. She was also always trying to help the people around her. She had an active social life on-line, and kept in touch with cousins, nephews and nieces, school friends and rescue colleagues. Lisa had suffered from Type 1 diabetes since the age of 3, and her health declined over the past few years. It was still a surprise when she experienced sudden heart failure a week ago. She and her doctors fought for a whole week, but in the end was not able to recover. She passed from us on August 30, 2015. Lisa is survived by Alan, her husband of 17 years; her mother, Jacqueline, and brothers Matt and Tom Foley, of Santa Clara, California; her brother Dan Foley of Northridge, California; and her sister Lorraine Spindler of Loveland, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. She joins her father, Daniel R. Foley, in the arms of God. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating a little time or money to a local animal rescue group in your home area, so that a few more animals can find a loving home; or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF.org). Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, Sep. 8, from 6-8pm, with Rosary at 7:30, at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel; and a Funeral Mass on Wed., Sep. 9, at 11:00am, at St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic Church. The interment ceremony will be private.
