Ellene Emily Flowers, 86, of Stone Mountain, Georgia passed away December 23, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Charlie Flowers, son-in-law Bobby Floyd and grandson Mack Taylor Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Marie Richardson & husband Kelley of Locust Grove, GA, son, Hugh Flowers & wife Judy of Norcross, GA, daughter, Peggy Taylor & husband Kenneth of Stockbridge, GA, daughter, Joy Hardy & husband Sonny of McDonough, GA, daughter Helen Floyd of Lagrange, GA, 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Stone Mountain First Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday Class where she served as secretary /treasurer. She retired from Lithonia Emergency Lighting after 20 years of service. Ellene was a devoted wife of fifty years. She loved God, her family, and her church. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She worked faithfully at Stone MountainFirstBaptistChurch overseeing hospitality efforts, preparing bulletins, and greeting members and visitors alike. Some of her favorite outings were trips with the Seniors to Ellijay and Branson .Through her crocheting skills, many people were blessed with baby blankets, shawls, and scarves. Her needlepoint crosses were given to prison ministries, as well as all hospital staff members caring for her during her illness. The garbage collecter, the postman, and the policemen were all familiar with her cooking skills, as she blessed them with many cakes and banana nut bread. She would meet them in the heat of summer with a cold glass of water. Ellene loved the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Braves, and was a fan of the Atlanta Falcons.She was a Godly example of the virtuous woman mentioned in Proverbs 31. Her price is far above rubies.Everyone who met her loved her. She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, her church family, lifelong friends and extended family.
