Eugene Anthony White

Gene White, a devoted Catholic, began his first day of eternal life September 18, 2021 with his blessed Savior.

Gene was born June 7, 1964 in Manhattan, NY to Frank and Mary White. Gene’s entire academic life was with Catholic education. He attended St. Margaret of Cortona in Riverdale for elementary school, then Mount St. Michael’s HS and Fordham University. He was devoted to his alma maters and graduated in 1987. Gene married and began a career as a surety bond agent. He continued that career until his death as well as doing consulting.

He has four grown children who were the love of his life. Claire Terese, Fiona Mary, Patrick Francis and Cameron Robert.

Soon after he married he moved to Garden City South, NY. He did much community and church volunteer work while raising his four children. Gene spent his free time with his children. He was involved in their schools, participating in their sports and academics. He helped mold their Catholic lives and teach them the things they should know about their faith.

The Jesuit beliefs and way of life “men and woman for others” is what Gene truly believed in. He had many Jesuit friends and was active in the Fordham alumni program. He was President of the Long Island Fordham University Alumni Club for many years. He helped form the Fordham Rebounders Basketball Club as well.

Later, Gene moved to the Atlanta area, where he became a parishioner of St. Thomas More in Decatur, GA. He made new friends easily here, as well as, where he would visit his son in Florida.

Sports and what they teach was a huge part of Gene’s life. Watching his favorite Yankees, Giants, Islanders and Knicks filled his weekends along with swinging the golf club with his dad, and more recently, his son Cameron.

Dreaming of one day being a news anchorman, Gene loved his news shows. Ask him about politics, he would be glad to give his opinion. Ask him about a movie, he would be glad to recite some of his favorite lines. Gene can now say in heaven, like he always said here, “One Big Happy Family!”
