Evelyn Joy Mcmillan

Evelyn 'Joy' McMillan, age 80, of Lawrenceville, GA passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis McMillan and is survived by her three sons and daugher-in-law, Mark McMillan, Hilton Head Island, SC; Kirk McMillan, Lawrenceville, GA; Eric (Lara) McMillan, Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Jessica, Lucas, Kate, John, Adam and Alec; Sisters Jean Connerly, TX; Kay (John) Schmitt, Greenville, SC; Patricia (Harley) Corie, Baton Rouge, LA; and Brother Bill Presley, Baton Rouge. LA. Joy was born in Port Arthur, Texas on September 8, 1935 and graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She was an educator, teaching 2nd Grade students for over 30 years in Texas and Lawrenceville, spending most of her teaching career at JG Dyer Elementary in Gwinnett County. She was member of Lawrenceville's First United Methodist Church and the Wesley Sunday School class for several years. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville, 395 W. Crogan Street, Lawrenceville, GA. with the Rev. Sheri Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Gwinnett Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA. 770-277-4550.
