Farish A. Hughes, age 92, of Lawrenceville, formerly of Atlanta, passed away on Wednesday July 2, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Ruby White Hughes. He is survived by his daughter, Connie Corley and husband Steve of Braselton, grandson Cameron Corley and wife Stephanie of Jefferson, and two great-grandchildren, Baxter and Piper Corley. Mr. Hughes was born January 16, 1922, in Cumming, GA. He served three years in the US Navy during World War II, seeing action in the south Pacific. He was a long-time member of E. A. Minor Masonic Lodge in Atlanta. He had affiliations with both the Methodist and Baptist church. A life-long musician, he was inducted into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame in 2003. He loved bluegrass music and played guitar and other instruments by ear. A cabinet-maker by profession, he was a skilled master craftsman and woodworker. Loved and respected by all who knew him, he was a true gentleman who exhibited kindness and caring for everyone he met. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 5 at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel with Rev. Alan Madden officiating. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 PM at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming, GA. Visitation will be Saturday, July 5 from 12:30 – 2:00 PM at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy, Lawrenceville, 770-277-4550.
