Flora Kurz Ayala, 91, passed away on 8 November 2017 at her home in Lawrenceville, GA. She was born on December 4, 1925 in Tallahassee, FL to Herman and Julia [Conway] Kurtz.
Flora grew up in Tallahassee, FL and then she:
 
  - 
   Attended Florida State College for Women and Duke University in Durham, NC where she proudly earned a BSN in Nursing. She remained an ardent Duke fan, chiefly basketball, for life.
  
 
  - 
   Began her career as a registered nurse until retirement in 1986.
  
 
 
 Flora married Raymond Joseph Ayala in 1949 in New Orleans, LA. They were happily married for 50 years. She was a member of Grayson United Methodist Church. She lived for her family and enjoyed every moment of her life especially all the precious times with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. To her family and friends she was known as communication central because of her joy in helping others and caring for their wellbeing. Her hobbies included traveling, visiting lighthouses, and birding, particularly viewing cardinals, pelicans, and cranes.
Flora was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Rose Marie [Kurz] Cringle.
Flora is survived by her daughters: Julia A. (Steven) Sligar of Winterville, NC and Lora A. (Chris) Cobbs of Omaha, NE and sons Mitchell K. “Mike” (Sharon) Ayala of Lawrenceville, GA and Raymond J. “Buddy” (Kathi) Ayala Jr. of Houston, TX. Her grandchildren are Matthew “Matt” Cobbs, Andrew Cobbs, Brian (Lindsey) Ayala, Stefanie (Kelly) Henry, Kara Ayala, and Cameron Ayala; great grandchildren Libi and Levi Henry; and nephews James Kilgalen and John Kilgalen.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Wages and Sons Gwinnet Chapel with Rev. Elaine Puckett officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Garden in Tucker, GA.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30046. 770-277-4550.
