Frances Carmichael Drake

Frances C. Drake, age 93, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord on March 25th, 2019, after a short stay in hospice care. Frances was born on September 19th, 1925, the daughter of J. Alton and Rubye Carmichael. Frances was a pastors’ wife for 59 years, and ministered with her husband in Georgia, Florida, New York and Texas. She enjoyed ice skating, sewing, art, British comedy, and a good cup of coffee. But mostly, she loved her family with all her heart. We love you mama! She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Clarence H. Drake, brother Jim Carmichael, and grandson Erik Nielsen. She leaves behind three daughters and a son; Sara Butler (Terry), Susan Nielsen (Steve), Kathryn Polk (Kevin) and Geoffrey Drake (Keely). Grandchildren; Christian Nielsen (Stephanie), and Katie Drake. Also, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and extended family members. A casual visitation will be held Saturday, April 6th from 1 to 3 p.m. at Smyrna Presbyterian Church, 2920 GA Hwy 212, Conyers, GA 30094. All family and friends are invited to drop by. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, or a charity of your choice.
