Gerald Andrew Brock of Snellville, GA passed away on August 21, 2020.
Gerald was born January 27, 1935, the second child of Mildred and Roscoe Brock. He survived polio when he was six years old and went on to be the valedictorian of his class. He proved to be dependable and hard working. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He gave great advice and enjoyed seeing the family flourish. He loved to laugh and the family often gifted him with joke books that he would pour over and read out loud to everyone. Gerald worked for Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta for 50 years. In all that time he only missed 8 days of work and never missed a day for illness. A faithful and active member of Atlanta First United Methodist, Gerald served as treasurer of the St. Andrew’s Sunday School Class until the day he died.
Mr. Brock was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Roscoe Brock; and brothers, James Brock and Johnny Brock all of Gainesville.
Mr. Brock is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Mattie Penland Brock; son and daughter-in-law David and Merrilee Sillay Brock of Lilburn, daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne & Brian Eplett of Lilburn; grandchildren, Andrew Brock, Asa Brock, Rhiannon Eplett, Wil Eplett, and Keith Eplett all of Lilburn; sisters Sara Jane Brock of Gainesville, Sheree Brock of Gainesville; Lauren Bracewell of Flowery Branch; sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and George Rutland of Tullahoma, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Dwight Griffin of Lula; brother, Jackie Brock of Gainesville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Randall and JoAnn Brock of Gainesville, Danny and Gelaine Brock of Gainesville; sister-in-law Evelyn Brock of Gillsville.
A public viewing will be held from 10:00AM- 12:00PM on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Wages & Sons Funeral Home, 1031 Lawrenceville Highway Lawrenceville, GA 30046. Mask are required inside the funeral home. The funeral home staff will control the number of folks in the viewing parlor to practice social distancing. Mattie Brock and her children and grandchildren will receive family and friends through a drive by visitation under the portico from 2:00- 4:00PM on Friday, August 28, 2020.
