Gerald Keith Washington was born on July 6, 1970 in Queens, New York as the only son to Kenneth and Anita Washington. Gerald was raised in the Queensbridge Houses in Long Island City, Queens, New York along with his older sister, Sherita Washington. Gerald married his long time love, Gina Marie Still on August 21, 1999 but began their courtship in late 1993. They started their family in New York City but later raised their three sons: Gerald Jr., Justin, and Jaylen in Loganville, Gwinnett, Georgia. Affectionately known as Jay Jay, Jay Budda, or just Budda to many that knew him with an unmistakable laugh, Gerald was an unwavering fan of the New York Knicks basketball team. His favorite basketball player was Bernard Taylor. He was an avid sports fan following all of the updates in basketball and football. Gerald was employed with Gwinnett Medical Center for 14 years until taking disability in 2015. Gerald also loved vacationing at the beach and intended to travel more internationally. After a long illness, Gerald quietly transitioned to Eternal Life surrounded by his loving family and friends on November 12, 2017 in Snellville, Gwinnett, Georgia. To cherish his memories, Gerald is survived by his wife: Gina Marie Still-Washington; three sons: Gerald K. Washington Jr., Justin E. Washington, and Jaylen A. Washington; his parents: Kenneth & Anita Washington; one sister: Sherita Washington; mother-in-law: Charlotte Drinkard; sisters-in-law: Lisa (Michael) Wilson and Deidre (David) Willingham; brother-in-law: Dario Still; and best friends that he considered brothers: Anthony Clarke (cousin), Elliot Banks, Richard Moultrie, Reginald Rhodes, and Timothy Ballard. Gerald was loved by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many friends from childhood to adulthood. Dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, a private viewing will take place on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. and a memorial service on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 6 p.m. All ceremonies will be held at Wages & Sons Funeral Homes and Crematories located at 1031 Lawrenceville Highway, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
