Geraldine Underwood

Mrs. Mable Geraldine Underwood (97) left for heaven on 12/04/23 after a long and wonderful life. Geraldine was born June 3rd, 1926 in Crabapple, Ga. to Claude and Era Dorsey. She had a younger brother, Gene Dorsey. They moved to Atlanta when she was a young teenager and she graduated from Fulton High School. She worked for Life of GA Insurance Co. for several years. She later met and married Charlie Underwood when he had returned from serving in the Army during World War II. They had two children, Charles Jr and Carol Lynn. Geraldine and Charlie were happily married for 46 years until his death in 1994. She was a longtime resident of Riverdale, Ga. She is best known for being an Avon Representative for 50 years and was very successful and knew just about everyone in Riverdale. She was a very active and long standing member of Mountain View/Poston Road Baptist Church . She was a Cub Scout leader and GA’s teacher at Mt. View Baptist Church . She was very involved in PTA. She was a loving caregiver for both her husband and mother for many years. She loved to travel but most of all she was a shining example of a good and faithful Christian wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and friend! She is preceded in death by her father, Claude Dorsey and mother Era Dorsey, her brother Gene Dorsey, and husband Charlie Underwood Sr. She is survived by her son, Charles (Joan), and her loving daughter Carol O’Donnell. Grandchildren: Jeremy Underwood, Emily Harper, Andy O’Neal (Jocelyn), Sarah Barnett, and great grandchildren: Landon Harper (Stephanie), Hayden Harper, Georgia Barnett, Jordan Harper, Jack Barnett, Ellie Harper, Abbie Harper and Lola O’Neal. She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed!

Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. December 7th at Camp Memorial Park located at 1095 Highway 54 Fayetteville, Georgia, 30214 Funeral arrangements are being handled by Wages and Son, Gwinnett GA.
