Gilbert Woodrow Thomas was born on November 28, 1935 in Mount Hindmost District; Chapelton Clarendon, Jamaica West Indies to Amon and Ambrozine (Robotham) Thomas.
He was affectionately called Uncle Gillie (everyone’s uncle) and “Tom or Tommy”. He attended John Austin All Age School and upon completion relocated to Kingston to pursue a career in the Nursing field. He immigrated to the United States in 1967 and worked at United Hospital in Port Chester, New York as a Nursing assistant and Orthopedic technician for thirty-three years until his retirement in year 2,000.
He attended Westchester Community College, Valhalla, New York while working and was granted a certificate in Human Services. He relocated to Lawrenceville, Georgia after retirement with the wife Annette Thomas and lived there for twenty-one years.
Gilbert leaves to celebrate his precious life and passing three sons: Edison Campbell/Thomas, Dalton Thomas, Peter Thomas and daughter Christine Thomas/Gholston. Grandchildren: Brandon Thomas, Garrett Thomas, Jakaya Patterson/Thomas, Kawonee Thomas, Korynn Gholston, Kiera Gholston, and Ciarra Campbell/Thomas. Sister: Murline Thompson/Thomas. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church members.
Today we honor and remember a well-loved man who touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Instead of thinking of how much we’ll miss him, please shift your thoughts to one of the happy, joking, and comical full-of-life times that you shared with him … there were many for all of us over the years.
