Our beloved father, husband, uncle, son and brother Govindranauth Mohanlall Sukhan passed away on November 16th, 2023, at the age of 52.
He was known as “Govin”, “Gee” and lovingly by his close family as “Homey”.
Govin was an exceptionally loving father and husband survived by his devoted wife, Tonetria Sukhan and their son Aiden Sukhan, his son Amarkant Sukhan and daughter Christina Carlis as well their mother and former spouse Vanessa Carlis. He was also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly.
Govin was born on June 23, 1971, in French Hospital in Manhattan, NY to Mohanlall and Delawatie Sukhan (deceased). He was the youngest of six children: Premwati Sukhan, Damyantie Sukhan, Hemdatt Sukhan, Khemwatti Sukhan-Anirude, and Anmati Sukhan-Ramdhan.
Govin and his family lived in Manhattan before moving to Brooklyn, NY. He attended Thomas Edison H.S. and Franklin K Lane H.S. After graduation he attended BMCC College in Manhattan as a Business Major. Govin went on to pursue a career in sales where his roles increased and climbed ranks of management.
While Govin was taken from us too soon, he lived a full life. He was a travel enthusiast and never said no to a new experience. There wasn’t an adventure he would shy away from. You would often find him exploring passions such as kayaking, hiking, and white-water rafting. Govin’s curious palette led to him often roaming farmers markets and checking out new restaurants. Govin was a deeply passionate husband and father. He enjoyed spending quality time with his wife and best friend of 20 years, playing with Aiden and teaching all his children new things. On any given day you could find Govin engaged in lively conversations and creating new memories with the family and friends he loved dearly. Our Govin, always gave his love unconditionally and without effort. May his soul be at peace, always dancing and free.
