H. Clifton Carpenter, age 91, of Sugar Hill, Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024. Born on September 13, 1932, in Headland, Alabama, Clifton’s life was marked by dedication, service, and a deep commitment to his family and community.
Educated at Headland High School and Southeastern University, Clifton valued education and personal growth throughout his life. Clifton served his country honorably as an x-ray technician in the Army during the Korean conflict, stationed in Japan. His dedication to service continued into his professional life, where he worked as a Logistics Specialist for Norfolk Southern Railroad until his retirement in May 1996.
He was a devoted member of Lawrenceville First Baptist Church, where his faith played a central role in shaping his character and guiding his actions.
Clifton is survived by his loving spouse, Rachael A. Carpenter; his daughter, Carol Menders (Tom); and his brother, Gerald Carpenter of Waldorf, Maryland.
A funeral service to celebrate Clifton’s life will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30046, with Dr. Lamar Holley officiating. A visitation will take place from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM on the same day.
Clifton will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in eternal peace.
