Harry Lewis Beam
June 19, 1935 - February 26, 2016
Lewis completed his earthly journey on February 26 after a period of declining health. He was preceded in death by his parents, James, William Beam, Sr. and Grizelda Burk Cooper Beam, brothers James W. Beam, Jr., and Kenneth C. Beam, and sister, Florence V. Beam Kidd.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mamie Rea Street Beam; sons and daughters in law, Mark S. Beam and Alison M. Beam of Parrish, FL, and Matthew L. Beam and Brooke B. Beam of Stokesdale, NC; grandchildren Travis A. Beam, Sarasota, FL, Nathan S. Beam, Odessa, TX, Carson A. Beam and Chloe R. Beam, Stokesdale, NC, Rebecca E. McCall, San Mateo, CA and Michael G. McCall, Parrish, FL; great grandson, Lewis B. Beam, Sarasota, FL; sister, Melle L. Lippy, Minneola, FL, and brother, Roger E. Beam, Exeter, NH, and numerous nephews and nieces, grand nephews and nieces and great grandnieces and nephews
Lewis grew up in Carroll County, Maryland. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Signal Corp from 1953 to 1955. He attended Johns Hopkins University and pursued careers in Research & Development Engineering and Field Engineering until his retirement in 1998. Over the years, Lewis was an active volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America and Habitat for Humanity. He loved all sports, both as a participant and spectator, he was a builder of all things, and an avid gardener and reader. Most of all, he loved and cared for his family, his friends and his church.
