OBITUARY

Helen Patricia Wade Drozak

November 8, 1936 – January 8, 2026

Helen Patricia Wade Drozak, affectionately known as “Ms. Pat”, age 89, of Snellville, GA, passed away on January 8, 2026. She is preceded in death by her parents, the late Walter Wade and Mae Bell Walker Wade, her husband, David Alexander Drozak, daughter, Brenda Ann Drozak and six brothers and sisters. Ms. Pat is survived by her daughter, Teresa Bellann Drozak Wade, her sister, Mary Wade, and several nieces and nephews.

Pat was born at home on November 8, 1936 in Stone Mountain, GA, as one of eight brothers and sisters. She was a graduate of Stone Mountain High School. She lived Christian values while rearing her two daughters, serving her community and church, being a business owner with her husband, David, and through many efforts to preserve the history of Stone Mountain, GA.

Pat’s ancestors were some of the early settlers of Stone Mountain, GA and her father was one of the sculptors of the Stone Mountain Memorial Carving, the world's largest high-relief granite sculpture, located in Stone Mountain Park, Georgia. She researched the early development of the area, collected artifacts, and operated a museum in the Village of Stone Mountain to showcase the collections. She also mapped the Stone Mountain Cemetery to assist those seeking to trace their roots and ancestors. She was a faithful member of Stone Mountain First Baptist church since she was a child, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and more. Ms. Pat was also a member of the Stone Mountain Woman’s Club and her family donated the land for the Wade-Walker Park in Stone Mountain.

Many came to love her as “Ms. Pat” as she was known to always share a smile, a hug, and often a “pat” for your cheek. She was a loving individual who never met a stranger or failed to offer a “God bless you” in her goodbye salutation. Ms. Pat loved being active in senior groups most recently at Church on Main in Snellville, GA, including her Sunday School, senior choir, and the Craft Connection.

While most knew her “southern belle” personality, Ms. Pat was fierce with strength, business savvy, and determination when she set her mind to something. She was resourceful with a relentless work ethic, and she and David, her husband, were successful entrepreneurs in residential building and development, real estate, and more. They worked tirelessly to provide for family and share the spoils of their success with those in need.

She also enjoyed camping with her family, fishing with David, and traveling with Teresa, especially going to the beach, which they did often. Ms. Pat gave freely of her time, her energy, and her love. Her servant heart was evident in all that she did. She is deeply loved and will be missed immensely.

Ms. Pat’s love of Christ and family guided her every action. She valued history as it helps us understand the present, teaching us to learn from past mistakes and successes which strengthens our civic awareness to make informed decisions for the future. She believed it to be a window to know yourself better and the path that God means for you to trod in this life. In honor of Ms. Pat, donations may be made to Stone Mountain First Baptist Church or the Stone Mountain Historical Society.
