Herschel Lewis Sims, Jr.

With sadness, we announce the passing of Herschel Lewis Sims, Jr., known to family and friends as Lewis, on August 3, 2026, at the age of 73.

Lewis graduated from Towers High School and built a career defined by hard work and dedication. He spent more than 20 years as a brick mason, working alongside his father and brother. Some of his favorite days were when their jobs took them near Stone Mountain because it meant his mother, Mrs. Myrtle Sims, would prepare them a home-cooked lunch. Later in life, Lewis spent more than 20 years driving for a custom audio company, where he continued to be known for his dependability, strong work ethic, and commitment to doing the job right.

Lewis is survived by his daughter, Natalie Larimer; his son, Robert Sims; his daughter-in-law, Brittany Sims; his grandchildren, Ethan Larimer, Brenna Sims, and Mackenzie Summerday; his brother, Larry Sims; and his sister-in-law, Susan Sims.

Lewis enjoyed watching NASCAR, cheering on the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons, and supporting the Georgia Bulldogs.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herschel Sims; his mother, Myrtle Sims; and his sister, Debbie Moore.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lewis's life on August 8, 2026, at Wages and Sons Funeral Home – Stone Mountain Chapel, 1040 Main Street, Stone Mountain, GA 30083. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker, Georgia.

Lewis will be remembered for his dedication to his family, the pride he took in his work, his love of sports, and the many memories he created with those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort and peace to all who loved him.
