Hilda Ruth Griffis

Hilda Ruth (Richards) Griffis, age 87, of Lilburn, GA, passed away July 27, 2021. Hilda was born in Charlotte, NC, on October 11, 1933 to parents Daniel S. and Nannie G. Richards.

Hilda was always happy, and was always the center of all family activities. Affectionately known as “The General,” Hilda was regularly giving orders, but you knew that she loved you when she was telling you what to do. She had many hobbies and activities that she enjoyed and always had something going on. She loved socializing, gardening, painting nature scenes, and she adored cats. Hilda was a member of Smoke Rise Baptist Church, where her husband, Tommy, was a deacon.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel S. and Nannie G. Richards, and her husband, Jesse Thomas “Tommy” Griffis, Jr. She is survived by her children, T. Lynn Bridges, Jenny R. Phillips, and Jesse T. Griffis III; her sister, Nancy White; 6 Grandchildren; and 7 Great-Grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 1:00PM, at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel, 1031 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville GA 30046. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00PM.
