Hope Torretti Calder

October 28, 1967 — January 25, 2024

Hope Torretti Calder, age 56, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 25, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.

Hope was the cherished wife of William “Bill” Calder and the loving mother of Joseph “Joey” Chavez. Born to Joseph and Mary Sanders, who so sincerely loved their daughter, Hope now reunites with her brother, John Torretti, in eternal peace.

In the embrace of her parents, Mary and Joseph Sanders, Hope found the unwavering pillars of love and support that shaped her into an extraordinary woman. Their bond was a testament to the profound love and devotion that defined her familial relationships. Mary and Joseph, in their role as parents, provided a foundation of love so strong that it radiated through Hope’s every smile and echoed in the kindness she shared with the world.

Hope Torretti Calder’s vibrant spirit, love of life, and unwavering devotion left an indelible mark on the hearts of many. Possessing a heart of gold and a genuine love for people, Hope cultivated a vast circle of friends, transforming strangers into lifelong companions and friends into cherished family members. Her innate kindness was a beacon, and she held her friendships in the highest regard. Music was a constant source of joy in her life—she loved attending concerts, savoring live performances with Kid Rock or Mothers Finest, and traveling to new places.

As a devoted family member, cherished friend, and kind soul, Hope dedicated many years to serving her community, forging lasting connections during her decade-long career at Georgia Farm Bureau, where she not only met some of her dearest friends but also found her loving husband. Her legacy is one of warmth, love, and the enduring bonds she created with everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.

She was a devoted mother, her steadfast love for her only son, Joey being the cornerstone of her life. It was always clear that her proudest achievement was being the mother to Joey Chavez. Through sleepless nights and countless sacrifices, her proudest accomplishment was watching him grow into the remarkable man he is.

As we navigate the weight of grief, we draw comfort from the enduring spirit of Hope. Her joy, laughter, and loving legacy serve as everlasting beacons of inspiration in our hearts. In addition to her devoted husband, William George Calder, and her son, Hector Joseph Chavez (Devan), Hope leaves behind a rich tapestry of loved ones. She is survived by her loving parents, Mary and Joseph Sanders, bonus daughters Eryn Mahoney (Brendan) and Megan Huggins (Justin), as well as her cherished grandchildren Owen Mahoney, Millie Huggins, and Luke Mahoney. Hope’s sister, Karen Sanders, and niece, Bonnie Bowman, also mourn her passing. She is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who, over the years, became an extended family, sharing in the warmth of her love.
