Jack C. Milner went to be with Jesus on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at 8:40 pm. He was born April 24, 1931, in Lufkin, Texas. He was 89. Dad was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Rebecca Smith Milner. He was survived by his sister Jane McKinnis Milner, his three boys, Bobby, Rick, and Mike, along with their wives, Kim and Cindy. He was blessed with 8 wonderful grandchildren and five incredible great-grandchildren. I can truly say that Dad loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them.
Because of Dad’s call to the ministry, he became Brother Jack to a lot of people in the churches where he served. He was a loyal, loving husband to one wife. He was Dad to his three boys and their wives, Grandpa and Papa to his grandchildren and Great-Grandpa to his great-grandchildren. He loved his family.
From 1950 until 1953, Dad served in the Navy during the Korean War where he was deployed on the USS Quincy. He spent most of his time working in the boiler room on the Quincy. He told me once that he could bake a potato down there in less than a minute. I guess he had a lot of baked potatoes.
Dad was a Minister of Music in Baptist churches for over 58 years. He affected the lives of so many. To this day, we still hear about the lives he touched. It was Dad’s love for the Lord and the people he served that caused all three of his boys to want to follow in his footsteps and surrender their lives to the ministry. That really speaks well of Dad.
He was a gentle giant, very loving and kind. He loved and served his country. He loved his wife. He loved his boys and their families. He especially loved and cherished his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
Since I had the privilege to write this obituary, I want to take this time to thank Rick, Cindy, and Derrick for taking care of dad since Mom’s death . Your love for Dad/Papa, and the sacrifices you made to make sure Dad’s last years were some of his best will always be appreciated. Love y’all more than you know.
If you are a believer in Jesus and have surrendered to Him as Lord of your life, we are not saying goodbye to Jack Milner at this time. We’re just saying we look forward to seeing you again one day.
