James Floyd Jimmy Brannan, Jr., age 71, of Lawrenceville, Georgia died October 16, 2010, after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Floyd Brannan, Sr., his first wife, June Wages Brannan, and his sister, Dottie Brannan Shafer. He is survived by his wife, Malinda Johnston Brannan; sisters, Polly Brannan Judd, Jeanne Brannan Paglee and Nellie Brannan; his children, Joni Brannan Mize, and husband, Jeffrey, James Floyd Jamie Brannan III and wife, Vickie; step-children, Christi Robb and husband, Hugh, Mark Johnston and wife, Monica; ten grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He was born in Lithonia, Georgia, and graduated from Lawrenceville High School and Woodrow Wilson College of Law in Atlanta, Georgia. He worked with his father at Gwinnett Sales and Service Ford agency and Lawrenceville Auto Parts, which he subsequently purchased and expanded to include businesses in Buford and Lilburn. In 1990 he was named Gwinnett County Small Business Person. He was a 32º Scottish Rite Mason, a life member of the Yaarab Shriners and a member of Lawrenceville #131 Grand Lodge of Georgia. For a number of years he was on the board of directors of Trust Company Bank/SunTrust Bank and a board member of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of the Atlanta Regional Commission and Lawrenceville Downtown Development Authority. In retirement he enjoyed his home in Cape Coral, Florida, his collection of antique cars, and he loved gardening.
The service celebrating the life of Jimmy Brannan will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, October 21st, at Wages and Sons Funeral Home Gwinnett Chapel, 1031 Lawrenceville Highway, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30046 with Rev. Inman Houston of Lawrenceville First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be at Gwinnett Memorial Park in Lawrenceville. The family will receive friends on October 20th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Wages and Sons Funeral Home.
