It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Anderson Brooks, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, on September 3, 2024, at the age of 77.
Andy was born on February 7, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia to Jimmy and Faye Brooks. He lived a life full of love and generosity. He was a devoted husband to Sandie, with whom he shared forty cherished years of marriage. Together, they built a home founded on faith, joy, and love, where everyone felt like family.
Andy was the proud father of two daughters, Taylor and Logan, who were the light of his life. His love for them was matched only by his deep pride in their accomplishments and the strong, compassionate women they became. He was also a loving father-in-law, welcoming his sons-in-law, Jonathan and Will, into the family as the sons he never had.
One of Big Time’s greatest joys in life was being a grandfather. He was blessed with five grandchildren, Maddy, Paxton, Elijah, Dylan, and Micah, who brought him great joy and fulfillment. He was the ultimate example of kindness, humility, creativity, and love. He was always there with a warm smile, a gentle hug, and an open lap.
Andy is also survived by his brother, Ricky, and sister, Laura, whom he adored. In addition to his immediate family, Andy leaves behind numerous friends, extended family members, and Northside’s 4th floor North team, who will miss him dearly.
Andy will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his gentle spirit, and his kind and generous nature. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
A celebration of Andy’s life will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at The Nett Church at Bethesda at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will precede the service at 10:00. In lieu of flowers, Andy wanted donations to be made to The Nett Church at Bethesda.
