James Christopher Denson

James Christopher Denson, “Chris”, age 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Northside Hospital

Chris was born June·27, 1958 in Augusta, Ga. He lived most of his life in the Atlanta area, where he attended Chamblee High School, now Chamblee Charter High school. He graduated from Walker County High School after attending his senior year. Chris then enrolled in Dekalb Junior College. He was an avid reader his entire life of all genres.

Chris was employed at SignCo in Lawrenceville, GA for the last 12 years where he worked in sign fabrication and installation. He was a gifted and talented carpenter. Earlier in life he was employed in all kinds of construction from furniture design to houses to high-rise luxury hotels. Always at work and always on time, a co-worker once stated Chris was the hardest working man he had ever seen!

Chris was a very active member of Brookhaven United Methodist Church. He served in many areas of ministry, including teaching Sunday School, chairman of the Administrative Board and Trustees and several Recovery ministries, including weekly Small Group Meeting, Soulful Saturday Services, and Sunday Morning Hospitality. He represented the church in the Suther Center for Christian Ministries where he served on the hoard as a member and vice-chairman. He also volunteered at the Center store in Chamblee for 8 years one Saturday a month as Day Manager. Chris often stated he was glad to be able to give back to the community where he had spent his life.

Chris is preceded in death by his mother and father, Joan Brown and Curtis Hoover Denson, and his brother William Curtis Denson. He is survived by his brother, John Charles Denson; sister, Marsha Denson Rinkel; great-nephew, Elijah John Denson Hallum; several other relatives, and his fiancee, Claudia Dial Howard.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. at Brookhaven United Methodist Church with Reverend Sara Webb-Phillips and Reverend Don Shannon leading the service. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00 in the sanctuary. The family will receive friends in the Hospitality Room following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brookhaven United Methodist Church Recovery Ministry/ Recovery Bibles and Coat ministry. The church is located at 1366 North Druid Hills Road Atlanta GA30319.
