Jimmy Giles was a man who loved Jesus and never missed an opportunity to tell everyone he met, if you did not already know his Savior, he was happy to tell you all about Him! Jimmy Giles, owned and operated Giles Marble Works in Redan, Georgia. He grew up in the monument business and it was a huge extension of who he was. His job often entailed meeting strangers at the most difficult point in their life and when it was all said and done, these "strangers" had welcomed Jimmy Giles into their family. He touched the soul of everyone who ever entered his shop. There were no need for words; his heart was felt. Jimmy took the quality of the products he produced very seriously and was not satisfied until he knew his customer was pleased. This dedication to service took breath, when the City of Stone Mountain declared Aug. 16th, Jimmy Giles Day. All throughout the city, you will find engraved bricks crafted by Giles Marble Works, as well as a State of Georgia granite sign at the entrance to Stone Mountain Park. Jimmy's dedication to service blankets the Southeast from the Squire and the Slammer World Golf Hall of Fame in Florida, to many local and civic memorials such as Life Light Memorial at Peachtree DeKalb Airport, to the Veterans Memorial in Loganville. His legacy can be seen throughout our state and many others far and wide.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 49 years, Diane Giles, his daughter Stacy Dean, son-in-law Michael, grandsons, Matthew and Ethan Dean, brother B.K. Giles.
The celebration of Jimmy's life will be held on March 15th with visitation at 1:00, followed by a service at 2:00 at Wages and Sons Funeral Home in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
