James H. O'Donnell, Jr.

January 23, 1935 — July 26, 2014

James H. O'Donnell, Jr., 79, of Lilburn passed peacefully away on July 26, 2014, at Embracing Hospice after a courageous fight with cancer. Originally from Wisconsin, he served two years in the Army as a flat-footed Ranger prior to his graduation from Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL. He later made his home in Georgia, received a masters degree in taxation from Georgia State University and worked both in private and federal companies in the field of taxation. He enjoyed gardening, playing tennis, running and ballroom dancing. He also enjoyed activities at Corpus Christi Catholic Church including the Theater Ministry, the Men’s Club Thanksgiving dinners, and ushering. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Wanda, two sons James (Teresa), Martin (Joanne), his brother Patrick, and grandchildren Ben, Jordan, Ian and Grace. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 600 Mountain View Drive, Stone Mountain, on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 11 A.M. followed by a meal of fellowship and remembrance at the church. Internment will be at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, it was Jim's wish that donations be made in his memory to either the St. Vincent de Paul Society or the Wounded Warrior Project.
